Sweet chestnut is an excellent and more sustainable alternative to tropical hardwoods which are conventionally used for outdoor furniture.

I also use larch as it is a highly durable timber.

I make my furniture from cleft or sawn timber, using draw pegged mortise and tenon construction.

I also make furniture for indoors usually from ash.
